ABOUT US
Mission
We provide schools with a youth development curriculum that focuses on advancing leadership and entrepreneurship skills while creating a culture of community through the use of practical and culturally relevant experiences.

Purpose
This curriculum supports youth in becoming responsible leaders within their communities and to themselves. Being responsible requires knowledge, skills, and a deeper understanding of oneself and those around them.

COMMUNICATION
OVERVIEW
Youth will develop interpersonal skills and use of effective group processing tactics. Key skills include active listening, debate, compromise, decision making, and facilitation. The skills, knowledge, and attitudes developed in this unit will help youth employ effective practices of communication.
Youth will be able to
- Develop effective communication techniques and strategies
- Understand the importance of active listening
- Effectively communicate ideas and opinions
- Advocate for themselves and others
- Build strategies for supporting group communication and decision making
Culture
OVERVIEW
Youth will develop and deepen their self-awareness and understanding of cultural influences on identity. The knowledge and attitudes developed in this section will help youth become fluent in understanding their identity and the role it plays in their individual leadership styles.
Youth will be able to
- Think critically about strengths, challenges, and solutions
- Identify a community-based project and develop research questions
- Engage in collecting data and creating an action plan
- Learn to use research tools
- Analyze research and develop solutions
Leadership
OVERVIEW
Youth will develop and deepen their concept of leadership. Youth are supported in thinking critically about their personal leadership styles and strengths, while also reflecting on the purpose of “leadership” in their lives and in their communities. Activities within this unit build on the norms, agreements, and decision-making strategies learned in the communication and culture units.
Youth will be able to
- Define leadership and its importance
- Explore different styles of leadership
- Develop a complex understanding of leadership
- Acquire awareness of their personal strengths and growth areas as leaders
- Develop positive Youth-Adult relationships
Community Project
OVERVIEW
Youth will work in teams to design and implement community-based projects. These sessions will reflect on the Communication, Culture, and Leadership units. Youth will be provided with a space and opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they obtained throughout the program during this section.
Youth will be able to
- Think critically about strengths, challenges, and solutions

- Engage in collecting data and creating an action plan
- Utilize a range of research tools
- Analyze research findings while developing solutions
